Join MonixArts at a sharing of their latest creation ‘SIGNS’ at the Young Actors Theatre in Islington. Building on Monica Nicolaides’ successes at Resolution!, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The Blue Elephant Theatre and The Riley Theatre this “assured and talented choreographer” (Cloud Dance Festival, 2013) has thrown herself into a project centering around the movement of British Sign Language.
‘SIGNS’ has been in creation since last year having an intense development period this summer including sessions with Candoco BSL specialists and a dance workshop at Oak Lodge School Wandsworth for young people with additional support and communication needs.
‘SIGNS’ will be performed on Saturday 3rd September at 7.30pm at Young Actors Theatre, Islington. The Natashas Project will be performing NATASHAS, as part of this exciting evening.
This performance marks the end of this research and development period for Monica and the dancers and the start of the piece’s life outside of the studio.

MonixArts wants it’s audience to be part of this journey, and we want to give you the opportunity to be part of the creation of Survival of the Fittest. We recently had a workshop at Chisenhale Dance Space. Had some fantastic participants and spent a whole day dancing. Further, our crowdfunding campaign is still active.
There are only 14 days till the deadline and we need all the support we can get for this exciting venture. We wouldn’t have come this far without your support, and we want to keep on going. All we are asking is to donate as little as £1 or less than a cup of coffee, or a pint. Any amount is much appreciated. We know that not everyone can contribute to our project, so we ask you is to share the link with others and spread the news.
An all-female production, featuring contemporary dance with martial arts. Support female artists and the arts!

We will soon be holding workshops and classes, where you can train with us and learn part of the Survival of the Fittest‘s repertoire. Also, rehearsal videos and bloopers soon to follow. We want you to share your thoughts about the work with us.
It’s already been two weeks since Nu.V.Na premiere at The Place. Definitely feels a bit strange not having rehearsals for the show but on the plus side, MonixArts was invited to present an extract of the work on 26th January at The Lost Theatre, in the Carpe Diem winter showcase.
All in all, it was a fantastic evening. A sold out show, with a variety of Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop and improvisation pieces. The audience was lovely and the atmosphere backstage couldn’t be more vibrant! Costumes all over the place, running from the dressing rooms to the stage and vice versa, dancers stretching and warming-up each in their own corner.
So after two shows of Nu.V.Na, MonixArts is taking some time to sort out workshops and future performances. For further information about MonixArts, their work and the services provided please contact us.
